The University of the West Indies Cocoa Research Centre (CRC) , established in 1930, is the world’s oldest cocoa research institution and a global leader in cocoa germplasm conservation and characterization. We collaborate internationally on research areas including cocoa quality, disease management, genetics, and propagation. The CRC also supports entrepreneurs through training, such as our chocolate making course, and proudly produces a 70% dark chocolate bar from our extensive collection of over 2000 cocoa varieties.
